Will We See Dolphins on the Side Dolphin Boat Trip?
It is the first thing everyone asks, and it deserves a straight answer rather than a sales line. Here it is.
Short answer
Maybe — and nobody can promise it. Dolphins and Caretta caretta turtles — both wild, the turtles a protected species — swim in the waters the boat crosses on its way to Dolphin Island (Yunus Adası), and on a lucky day they pass close. Because they are wild, we sell the boat day, not a sighting: the river, three swims, lunch on deck and the island are what you book, and any dolphin is a gift on top.
Yes, they live here
The island carries the name for a reason. In Turkish, yunus means dolphin and ada means island, so Yunus Adası is simply Dolphin Island. Wild dolphins live in this part of the Mediterranean, and so do loggerhead sea turtles, Caretta caretta, a protected species in Türkiye.
Nothing about them is arranged. They are free animals in open water, they come and go on their own terms, and they owe a passing boat nothing. That is exactly what makes a sighting worth having when it happens.
Why nobody can promise them
A sighting depends on wild animals, the sea and the moment, and none of those can be booked. A certain sighting in open water is not something anyone is able to sell.
So you will find no odds on this site: no percentage, no favourite month, no lucky hour. The operator's own record says it outright: seeing either animal is down to nature, and it cannot be guaranteed. We would rather you arrive with honest hopes than leave feeling misled.
If they do come close
- Stay where you are on deck and let them choose the distance.
- Keep voices low; shouting across the boat sends attention, not animals, your way.
- Watch, film, enjoy — but please do not reach for them, throw food into the water or try to swim out to them.
- This is not a swim-with programme. If you are already in the water when they pass, stay calm and give them room.
Our full advice is in watching wild dolphins well, and the turtles have their own page.
And if they don't appear?
Then you have still had the day you paid for. The boat leaves at 10:00 and runs down the calm Manavgat river, anchors at the Boğaz river mouth for a swim where cold river water meets the warm sea, serves a BBQ lunch on deck, heads out to Dolphin Island for the long swim, stops once more, and turns the music and foam on for the way home. It is back at the harbour around 16:30–17:00. The whole sequence is on the day, stop by stop.
Here is the honest test. If dolphins are the one thing that would make or break the trip for you, weigh that before you book. If a river, three swims and lunch at sea sound good on their own, the animals turn into a bonus rather than a bet — and that is the frame of mind in which this day is best enjoyed.
Booking with your eyes open
The price does not move with the sea. From 11 a guest pays €21; a child between 2 and 10 pays €15; babies and toddlers below that ride free. Euros change hands on the day itself, never online, and you may cancel without charge until 48 hours ahead. Choose your date and hotel here, or read whether the day is worth it first.
